The Bundeswehr’s uniforms are our business.
From specifications through tendering, awarding contracts, and quality assurance to logistics, distribution, and refurbishment, Bw Bekleidungsmanagement GmbH (BwBM) is responsible for the entire value chain of Bundeswehr uniforms—from shoes to helmets.
We provide uniforms for approximately 250,000 active-duty service members, reservists, and civilian employees of the Bundeswehr.
Our mission is as comprehensive as the career opportunities we offer our approximately 1,900 employees at our headquarters in Cologne or at one of our roughly 110 locations throughout Germany. We offer secure jobs and are constantly growing.
To support our Laundry Services Management division at our headquarters in Cologne, we are seeking you for a full-time, permanent position as:
Team Leader, Service Management (f/m/d)
#All female soldiers and civilian employees of the German Armed Forces can have their service uniforms and equipment listed in the BAN cleaned free of charge. In this role, you will coordinate collaboration between service providers, regions, and customers, thereby playing a key role in ensuring smooth service and high customer satisfaction.
We are looking for a leader to take over our “Laundry Service Management and Procurement” team—with a planned, structured onboarding process and transition into the team leadership role (succession). In this role, you will manage external service providers, further develop management tools and reporting systems, and ensure reliable service delivery in day-to-day operations. At the same time, you will serve as the central point of contact for tenders and contract awards and as a subject matter expert for related projects aimed at further developing our services. We will provide you with the necessary expertise in “Laundry Services” through an intensive onboarding program; however, what is most important to us are your leadership and management skills, as well as a strong understanding of numbers and processes.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You will be responsible for the operation of the entire external laundry network and will ensure that all contractually agreed-upon services are reliably provided.
- In this role, you will lead a team of 4 employees, providing both technical and disciplinary guidance, conducting regular performance reviews, and using these to determine employee evaluations and necessary training initiatives.
- You will further develop the laundry network conceptually, strategically consolidate contracts, and work toward long-term price stability and supply security.
- You are responsible for operational execution in accordance with contracts and requirements and also manage service providers based on relevant key performance indicators.
- Working closely with cross-functional departments (e.g., SCM, internal logistics, controlling, purchasing, IT), you will contribute to the overall development of BwBM and actively participate in projects as well as in the further development of your team.
YOUR PROFILE:
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on logistics, controlling, or supply chain management, or comparable training
- Relevant professional experience and at least two years of leadership experience in a comparable position (e.g., operations/service management, supplier/vendor management, logistics/SCM)
- Strong numerical aptitude and proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, and ideally knowledge of SAP
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, a results-oriented and action-oriented work style, and a strong sense of responsibility
- Interest in process digitization (e.g., workflow/communication solutions, reporting, tools)
- Willingness to travel as needed (approximately twice a month)
WHAT WE OFFER:
As an in-house federal agency, we offer you a secure job with the following benefits:
- A permanent, full-time position in a crisis-proof company
- A culture of active feedback and, as a rule, an annual salary adjustment
- A structured onboarding process and a dynamic team that enjoys collaborating and supporting one another
- A varied range of responsibilities and the opportunity to contribute and grow professionally
- Individualized training opportunities, both internal and external
- Flexible work hours (flexible scheduling between 6:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. with no core working hours)
- Opportunity for remote work
- Modern office space at a location with direct access to public transportation and the highway (free company parking)
