Faculty III - Media, Information and Design - is currently the largest faculty at Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts. It consists of two departments (Information and Communication and Design and Media) with a total of 18 Bachelor's and Master's degree courses.
The MODE: konzept. design. kommunikation. (B.A.) aims to continue to focus on the future and strengthen the cross-cutting theme of sustainability in the curriculum, taking into account ecological, economic, social and cultural aspects.
The USE-LESS Center for Sustainable Design Strategies has successfully established itself for several years as a contact point and network for sustainability in teaching, research and knowledge transfer at Faculty III. Building on this, the planned cross-faculty innovation laboratory useLAB, as a physical interface between science, business and society, will address the synergies of design, creative methods and technology in a multidisciplinary approach in order to fuel sustainable innovations in various areas of production. Research (including doctorates) is tested here under real conditions and ideally transferred to application.
The professorship is to be filled by an expert in sustainable fashion with a focus on innovative design strategies and a holistic, transdisciplinary approach, who will accompany and continue the research and transfer activities of the useLAB and the USE-LESS Center with its regional and international network of practice partners and the design, strategic and communicative know-how and link them with teaching in the MODE degree program.

We expect you to have
- a successfully completed university degree in the field of fashion design
- pedagogical and didactic aptitude confirmed by practical university experience
- special aptitude for artistic work as well as additional artistic achievements demonstrated by concepts and realizations in independent projects, exhibitions or activities in the field of sustainability and social transformation or in the field of education for sustainable development
- Professional experience in the applied environment of fashion and clothing, ideally in the development of marketable collections and prototypes
You should also fulfill the following requirements:
- Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts emphasizes gender/equality issues in teaching and research; here you should contribute your gender and diversity skills
- Willingness and ability to hold seminars in English in order to contribute to the internationalization of the courses offered
It is desirable that you also fulfill the following requirements:
- Ability to teach and communicate complex sustainable design strategies and prototyping concepts for circular, forward-thinking fashion
- Willingness to conduct applied research and teaching for sustainable fashion and develop case studies in cooperation with the USE-LESS center and the useLAB as a transdisciplinary microfactory
- Willingness to engage in cross-faculty and cross-institutional cooperative teaching, research and transfer in the field of sustainable production under global and ethical aspects and with the involvement of practice partners, including international exchange
- Integration of regional resources and stakeholders from education and culture as well as support for external learning locations and practical collaborations
- Willingness to acquire and cooperate in the acquisition of third-party funding
- Willingness to develop innovative teaching modules for MODE, incorporating research questions and topics
In addition to participating in self-administration, the university expects its professors to be willing to play an active role in shaping the expansion of the faculties. Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts is an on-campus university.
