Technical Product Manager (Apparel Engineer) m/f/d

This role combines practical technical expertise in apparel manufacturing with a strong focus on documentation and competitive bidding. A key part of the job is creating, reviewing, maintaining, and coordinating the detailed technical documentation required for public tenders and regulated products.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating products from handoff by product development through sample creation, production, and final delivery,
including on-site support at production facilities, if necessary. - Review and approval of samples; organization and conduct of fitting sessions, as well as providing clear technical feedback and corrections.
- Monitoring fit, construction, workmanship, manufacturing standards, and overall product quality throughout the entire sample phase and production.
- Preparation, compilation, maintenance, and review of technical product documentation, including specifications, size charts, bills of materials,
work instructions, and quality requirements. - Managing tender-related technical documentation, requirements, certifications, test reports, declarations, and
supporting documents, ensuring completeness, accuracy, traceability, and timely submission. - Maintain accurate product and technical data in the ERP system, including bills of materials (BOMs).
- Close coordination with manufacturers, suppliers, and internal departments (development, purchasing, sales, and logistics).
- Identifying and resolving technical and quality-related issues, including analyzing quality returns and implementing corrective actions.
- Implement and monitor quality standards and quality control requirements throughout the entire manufacturing process.
Assist in the selection, evaluation, monitoring, and certification of manufacturers and suppliers in collaboration with Purchasing,
including plant visits, if necessary.
Profile
- A college degree or professional certification in textile engineering, apparel engineering, apparel science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Ideally, more than 5 years of professional experience in the fields of apparel technology, technical production, or apparel manufacturing.
- Experience in production coordination, manufacturing, quality management, and technical documentation.
- Experience with public tenders, government agencies, tender documents, or regulated products is a major advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of garment design, fit, construction, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
- Experience communicating and collaborating with international manufacturers and suppliers.
- Strong organizational and structuring skills, a keen eye for detail, and confidence in handling extensive technical documentation.
- An independent, proactive, and solution-oriented work style
- Strong ability to work in a team with excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally
- Fluency in spoken and written German and English
